Is this your 1st day of recovery?
You woke up today to a change of life. You decided that today was going to be a change. What will the day look like? Take a deep breath and remember what you wanted to recover from.
The obvious ones of alcohol, drugs, or smoking. These are tough because of the physical withdrawals and the mental attachment that we’ve had with these vices.
Golfers live on success or failure of their recovery shots. No golfer is perfect so their recovery ability is what sets them apart and makes them better than most. They even have a statistic for it, scrambling.
There are also other types of recovery. Grief, separation, and financial. Some of these are just as bad and need a plan to overcome. The recovery process can be just as daunting as what just happened. Take stock and remember what you’re trying to revolver from and realize it’s not a one-day thing. It will take some time.
How you adjust and reach out to people will be the timer. Don’t try to go through anything alone. Accept help from anywhere at first no matter the source. There are others who have been through the process before and with a little discernment, you will be able to accept the help that is pure and healthy. Don’t accept anything that is negative or derogatory.
Remember that there was a time and place that you decided that this change must happen. Let it happen. You may have been through it before or maybe this is your first shock. If your mind tells you it’s going to be different, tough, exhausting, and difficult. You are right. But it will get easier over time with propere help and prayerful thoughts. Make a plan, or create a plan, just don’t create an excuse. And as always, this is just one man’s opinion.
Sincerely and God Bless
