What have we done that’s been great?

Automobiles, electricity, weapons that can maim and kill entire countries, rockets going into space? Maybe indoor toilets. The Cotton Gin? How about Big Box grocery stores. But what have we really done or created that’s great? Are we that more advanced than the Greeks, the Romans, the industrial revolution. Is life better for humans now than at any time in history? Or are we wishing for “the good ole days”? What’s the definition of greatness?

Those assistant engineers that led the industrial revolution immigrated to the US and began to invent things. Young kids grow up inspired by their parents, friends, people in the news. What are the current world views on greatness? Longer life expectancy? Kinder treatment of our fellow man? Innovations in medicine? How about the thoughts of self-worth. Are we really creating greatness or are we just searching?

Is greatness equal to achievement? Is it equal to happiness? Is a company great because of its stock price or global reach? Is a country great because of the power it has militarily or because of its economic influence? Is a family great because of success or of determination? Where is the bar from previous generations? Have we squandered previous greatness by not recognizing what greatness really is? We have dynasties in our past. Do we give them justice for what they achieved? We have sports dynasties, we have corporate giants, and we have memorable and financially successful families.

Is Greatness What’s important?

I think if we look at the landscape of our world, we can see if greatness exists. Is suffering getting less and less? Is communication between people getting more and more enjoyable? Do we have things to look forward to or are we shrinking in our hope? Do we have the same goals and dreams? Do we even care who you are? Are we locked in to today and never see the past or the future? Ask yourself now, whatever is happening, is this great? Then ask again tomorrow and then the next day. If it’s truly great, then it will feel good and right. Then the Hope will return. And as always this is just one man’s opinion.

Sincerely and God Bless,

JOMO
